- Be brief and concise, but ensure that all dates are accounted for. If there are any gaps in employment these need to be explained
- Try and keep your CV to 2 pages
- Include a profile on the first page, including your best attributes and key skills
- Make sure you include all dates, company names and job titles of previous employment
- Unless you have recently graduated, keep the education/qualifications section to the back page
- Tailor a CV to a specific job where appropriate, i.e. include relevant job experience and duties that match the job you’re applying for
- Spell check your work as you go along
- Try and bullet point your duties and keep them concise and to the point
- Once your CV is complete, read several times to check for spelling, grammatical or formatting mistakes – even better, get somebody else to check for you!
